Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting special education students in a middle school setting near Newark, DE. You’ll work onsite alongside dedicated educators, focusing on two sixth-grade students who require additional support within their classroom. As a shared paraprofessional, you’ll collaborate with existing 1:1 paras to provide a nurturing, structured environment that helps each child achieve their goals throughout the school year.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

Valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit in hand (documentation required; applications pending will not be accepted)
Experience working with student populations in school settings, with a preference for special education support roles
Comfort and adaptability in 1:2 student-adult ratios, collaborating with classroom staff
Willingness to fulfill background check and fingerprinting requirements ($85 CBC fingerprinting fee applies)
If holding RBT certification, independent supervision arrangement is necessary as school and agency cannot provide this support

What You’ll Do:

Assist two 6th-grade special education students during the school day
Collaborate with lead teachers and 1:1 paraprofessionals to coordinate student care and instructional support
Help reinforce individualized education and behavioral plans as outlined by teaching staff
Foster a supportive classroom environment attentive to each student’s needs
Engage with students to encourage participation and growth in both academic and social settings
