Human Resources Director (Contract)

Location: Baltimore, MD

Employment Type: Contract

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director for a mission-driven organization in Baltimore, MD . This contract opportunity is ideal for a seasoned HR professional who thrives in a leadership role, provides strategic guidance to organizational leaders, and oversees a wide range of HR functions while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor to leadership on employee relations, performance management, workplace conflict, disciplinary actions, and separations.
  • Manage complex employee relations issues from initial review through resolution, ensuring thorough documentation, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Conduct and oversee investigations involving workplace concerns, including discrimination, harassment, misconduct, ethics complaints, and policy violations.
  • Provide oversight and support across key HR functions, including payroll, benefits administration, HRIS management, recruiting, onboarding, training, compliance, and policy administration.
  • Partner with leadership on HR initiatives, organizational projects, audits, process improvements, and policy development.
  • Mentor and support HR staff while promoting consistency and best practices across the HR team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with a strong focus on employee relations.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law, compliance, investigations, HR operations, and employee relations best practices.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms required; UKG experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
Additional Details
  • Candidates should be comfortable with occasional evening, weekend, local, and overnight travel as needed.
  • Background screening required.
Compensation

$46-$58/hour (depending on experience)

Benefits may be available to contract employees in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
