Back of the House Operations ManagerResponsible for the overall operations of the back of the house, and ensuring the overall integrity of The Boiling Crab brand. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the planning, organizing, training, and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in food costs, employee retention, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation. Regularly measures and evaluates service levels and standards using guest and employee feedback and develops plans for continuous improvement. Is committed to learning and improving through reading & working with other company members. Continuous education and self-development will be of highest priorities along with a commitment to coaching and developing entire management team and staff.Who you are:You have knowledge of food and beverageYou are excited to train and grow with usYou love working with a team, and are able to roll your sleeves up and help anywhere neededJob Requirements:Two-plus full-service restaurant kitchen managementAvailability to work all shifts including nights, weekends and holidays as neededCollege Degree or hospitality courses preferred; High school diploma or GED requiredA valid ServSafe or willing to complete upon hireCertified Food Protection Manager Training Course & ExaminationDC Health CertificationCompletion of ABRA Manager License per DC lawCompletion of Alcohol Awareness TrainingSexual Harassment Prevention TrainingGood manual dexterityAble to lift 50 poundsDuties and Responsibilities:Hire BOH staffRead tickets, either in electronic or paper form, that are processed through the POS systemMaintains safety and sanitation standards at all timesRotates products according to FIFO (first in, first out) principleCovers, labels, dates, and stores prepared productsMaintains high standards of personal hygiene in compliance with local health ordinancesClean work area, stores utensils, disassembles and cleans equipmentKeeping tabs on food costCreates schedulesTrains new hires and on-going trainingSkills Required:Decision Making, Process ImprovementStrategic PlanningVerbal CommunicationCustomer FocusManagement ProficiencyManaging ProfitabilityQuality FocusKnowledge of proper food handling and sanitation.Maintain high standards of personal hygiene in compliance with local health ordinances.Manage food cost.Leadership / mentoring skills.Physical Requirements:The Kitchen Manager will be required to engage in the physical action for up to an eight-hour shift.The Kitchen Manager will be required to lift up to fifty pounds.The Kitchen Manager works under extreme time pressures to complete orders.Considerable dexterity is required.Environmental Exposure:The kitchen manager is exposed to heat, moisture, smoke and cleaning chemicals used in the kitchen area.The kitchen manager engages in extensive verbal interaction with co-workers and is exposed to potentially frustrating situations.Will be exposed to a variety of hot spices (if sensitive to spicy food).May be required to function as prep cook handling live and raw seafood for use on the cook's line.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
