Work Environment\n

This role is 100% remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home while making a significant impact on the lives of those struggling with addiction. The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities\n

As a Mental Health Counselor at Optum, your day-to-day activities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify the unique needs, goals, and baseline of individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorders.

• Creating individualized treatment plans that are tailored to each patient's circumstances, drawing on a range of therapeutic methods.
\n
• Providing one-on-one counseling, utilizing approaches such as motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy to facilitate patient engagement and adherence to treatment.

• Leading group therapy sessions that foster peer support and shared experiences among individuals in recovery.
\n
• Collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists and addiction specialists, to coordinate comprehensive care for patients.

• Offering crisis intervention during emergency situations related to substance use, ensuring timely support and safety for patients.

• Educating patients and their families about addiction, recovery paths, and community resources available for ongoing support.

• Maintaining accurate and confidential documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards while employing best practices.

• Participating in team meetings and case consultations to discuss and refine treatment strategies.

• Staying informed about the latest research and methodologies concerning substance use disorder treatment.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your work will focus on diverse patients struggling with substance use disorders, including varying degrees of addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. You will play a vital role in helping them overcome challenges, develop coping strategies, and reintegrate into their communities. The ability to connect empathetically and professionally with patients and their families will be critical in your role.

Qualifications\n

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid license (such as LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or PsyD) to practice in the state of Washington.

• Strong understanding of substance use disorders, including assessment techniques and intervention strategies related to rehabilitation.

Preferred Experience\n

While a Bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement, candidates holding a Master’s degree in a relevant field, along with at least two years of experience working with individuals facing substance use challenges, preferred. Additional certifications in specialized therapeutic techniques will also enhance your suitability for this role.
