Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will undertake the following key responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations through preliminary interviews and comprehensive assessments to understand each client's challenges from the beginning of treatment.

• Document clinical notes and progress meticulously from initial consultations to the completion of treatment, ensuring high standards of record-keeping and compliance.
\n
• Develop and implement tailored treatment and intervention plans that address the specific needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
\n
• Facilitate engaging and therapeutic individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based approaches to foster a positive therapeutic environment.

• Continuously monitor client progress throughout treatment, adjusting plans as necessary and providing ongoing support.
\n
• Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to provide holistic care.

• Conduct follow-up communication with healthcare providers for clients requiring hospitalization, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate aftercare plans.

• Identify potential barriers to recovery, proactively addressing issues that may impede client progress in therapy.
\n
• Offer resources and support to family members and caregivers, teaching them strategies to manage mental health challenges effectively.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

You will be working with a diverse client population, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and other complex mental health issues. As part of our community health clinic, you will also address varied cultural backgrounds and socio-economic factors, allowing for an enriching therapeutic experience that seeks to empower clients in their mental health journey.

Qualifications\n

To be considered for the role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Georgia.
\n
• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, allowing for clear interactions with clients and team members.
\n
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, exhibiting empathy and understanding in client relationships.

Preferred Experience\n

Candidates with the following experiences will be preferred:

• Previous experience as a mental health counselor, specifically within community health settings.
\n
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR, to manage client records efficiently.

• Knowledge of best practices according to the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• An understanding of the impact of physical and emotional health conditions on mental well-being, including experience with addiction disorders.

• In-depth knowledge of prescribed medications and their effects on mental health.
