Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a difference in the lives of elementary learners as a Special Education Teacher serving grades 1-2. In this contract position, you will provide cross-categorical instructional programming to a diverse group of students with academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs, including a significant number of students identified with autism. Instruction is carefully crafted to align with grade-level standards while meeting each student’s individualized education program (IEP) goals.

You’ll work in a collaborative, well-supported environment that includes a dedicated classroom aide and as-needed 1:1 support staff. Your expertise will help deliver structured teaching methods, visual and sensory supports, and effective communication strategies. Partner closely with related service providers to implement behavioral and social-emotional interventions that ensure every student can thrive.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification (Illinois)
• Experience or strong interest in working with students across differing ability levels, particularly autism spectrum
• Knowledge of individualized instruction, IEP development, and specialized curriculum adaptation
• Ability to implement structured teaching, sensory, and communication supports
• Collaborative approach with support staff and related service providers
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Passion for supporting student growth and success

Core Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver grade-level and individualized instruction aligned with IEPs
• Utilize visual, behavioral, and sensory supports to encourage student engagement
• Implement interventions for communication and social-emotional skills
• Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment
• Partner with aides, 1:1 staff, and related service professionals throughout the school day
• Complete progress monitoring and maintain accurate documentation
