Step into a pivotal role supporting K–5 students as a self-contained special education teacher within a dedicated elementary school setting. This contract opportunity places you at the heart of a vibrant learning community, where you'll work on-site only, providing consistent care and instruction to students who haven't had a special education teacher for the past three years. Travel professionals are strongly encouraged to apply and bring their expertise to a team eager for your support.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Educator Certification required (must provide documentation upon request)
- Prior experience teaching in special education classrooms, specifically self-contained settings
- Ability to support a K–5 caseload of approximately 10 students (with a goal to split total caseload of 20)
- Skilled in assisting students with personal care, including some toileting duties
- Adaptable, patient, and ready to build a positive classroom culture
- Previous travel experience as a teacher is a plus
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction aligned with student IEPs
- Collaborate to help restructure and manage caseload distribution
- Monitor student progress, document goals, and work closely with fellow special education staff
- Establish strong, supportive relationships with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Provide assistance with daily living skills and foster independence
- Maintain a productive classroom environment from 7:45am – 3:15pm, 35 hours weekly
This assignment runs from ASAP through May 26, 2027, at a single elementary location. You’ll have access to a principal who is flexible with interviews after 4pm CDT and weekends, ensuring you can easily connect with school leadership.
