As a fully remote position with regular office hours, the LMHC will play a vital role in our Geriatric Care Clinic, serving an essential function in managing mental health challenges faced by our senior population.

Work Environment

This position allows for remote work flexibility while maintaining a collaborative connection with team members and healthcare professionals within the outpatient office setting. You will engage with clients primarily through video calls and telehealth platforms while also having the opportunity to meet with them in person as needed. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing for a structured routine that promotes work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly residents to identify specific emotional and psychological needs, creating effective treatment plans accordingly.
• Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions, supporting clients as they navigate emotional challenges related to aging, such as grief, loss, and transition.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans, ensuring that all aspects of patient health are addressed holistically.
• Educate family members and staff about mental health strategies to enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Provide specialized grief and bereavement counseling for residents and their loved ones facing end-of-life issues, offering comfort and support during difficult times.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and mental health interventions designed to promote mental acuity and resilience in seniors.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is on the geriatric population, encompassing seniors coping with various mental health challenges linked to aging. Whether providing support for individuals facing cognitive decline, emotional distress due to loss, or general life transitions, the LMHC will offer compassionate and evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of each client. This requires cultural sensitivity and empathy, especially when working with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential in Massachusetts.
• A minimum of 4 years of recent and relevant experience in geriatric mental health counseling.
• Strong understanding of evidence-based interventions specific to older adults, with the capability to conduct comprehensive assessments and design individualized treatment strategies.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective connection and rapport-building with elderly clients and their families.
• Knowledge of ethical practices and legal standards in geriatric mental health counseling.

Preferred Experience

• Certification or additional training in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues is highly desirable.
• Previous experience delivering counseling services to elderly populations facing a variety of mental health challenges.
• Experience developing cognitive interventions and programs to address cognitive decline in seniors.

Compensation and Benefits

This role offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 65,000 to 95,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, a sign-on bonus will be provided to successful candidates.
