Audience Strategist, Enterprise & Investigations

Job Description The Wall Street Journal is seeking a skilled strategist to lead audience growth and maximize the impact of our most ambitious journalism. As part of the broader content strategy team, you will partner with editors to translate data into insights, shape storytelling across formats, and set strategies to reach audiences and spark conversation around our reporting. Based in the New York office, the role reports to the Director of Content Strategy. Responsibilities Develop and execute a pitch‑to‑publish, data‑informed audience strategy for enterprise and investigative journalism across the newsroom. Drive a culture of experimentation by identifying, testing, and scaling new formats, distribution strategies, and technologies. Interpret data from various platforms, create actionable insights, and present recommendations to editorial leadership. Collaborate with visual storytelling, audio/video, promotion, and distribution teams. Serve as a leading expert on audience best practices, develop training and mentoring opportunities. Qualifications 7+ years in a digital media environment, including news strategy, editing, or reporting. Experience working with investigative journalism. Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis and reporting tools. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to present strategic recommendations clearly. Track record of building working relationships with reporters and editors, influencing decision‑making at all levels. Passion for news and understanding of the evolving digital media landscape, especially subscription‑based business. Self‑starter mindset with initiative to identify challenges and propose solutions. Strong interest or knowledge in business, finance, economics. Benefits & Compensation Base Pay Range: $130,000 – $150,000.
