Accounts Receivable Specialist (Hybrid)

Array Education currently operates seven main programs or ventures – Cooperman College Scholars , a college scholarship program targeting high-potential, underrepresented students from Essex County, NJ; nXu , which provides research-based, transformative, purpose-driven learning experiences for youth and adults through a school-based curriculum, educator training and development, and direct student programming;Lit , a program partnering with school and system leaders to build, implement, and sustain reading ecosystems that live at the intersection of research and instructional equity; Prelude , a program that connects high school students with paid internships in order to support work-based learning and help students explore purposeful careers; Teach Like a Champion , a program that studies and shares the best practices of effective teachers through professional development training, coaching, and materials; In Tandem , a program that connects a diverse youth population trained in design thinking with organizations looking to incorporate youth voices to improve their products, programs and services; and Modern Bloom , an initiative that is measuring the impact of expert one-on-one tutoring to inspire builders to recreate these outcomes for every child. In addition to operating these programs, Array also explores and invests in technologies and tools that have the potential to dramatically improve instructional experiences and outcomes. The Opportunity Reporting to Array Education’s Managing Director of Finance and Operations, the Accounts Receivable (A/R) Specialist will be primarily responsible for the Accounts Receivable function of our core programs. Additionally, the A/R Specialist will play a large role in the monthly close process and A/R reporting. The A/R Specialist will also focus on special and seasonal projects and improving our client service experience. The position requires a hard worker who is eager to learn with strong attention to detail. The A/R Specialist will represent the organization to external parties and will be asked to provide excellent customer service. The A/R Specialist will also need to be able to look at the big picture as well as the day-to-day processes focused on continuous improvement, accuracy and efficiency. In addition, the Accounting Associate needs to have a passion for Array Education’s purpose and a deeply collaborative approach to work. Responsibilities Execute A/R function for our core programs Prepare customer A/R invoices that accurately reflect agreements and payment terms Track outstanding A/R and follow up with customers, representing Array and our programs in a professional manner on all communications Ensure customer satisfaction and maintain relationships with customers Respond timely and professionally to inquiries surrounding invoices Monitor incoming payments and make related entries into the accounting system Monthly close process: Analyze and input accounting data as needed Perform monthly bank reconciliation for assigned account(s) A/R reporting and reconciliation Provide monthly A/R reports to program staff overseeing sales and partnership efforts Maintain and improve monthly and quarterly reconciliation process to ensure accuracy of all earned revenue data Perform other reconciliations as needed Work on ad hoc reporting requests to support operational decision-making Assist with the setup and maintenance of vendor account records with customers and partners Special Projects and Other Responsibilities (5-10%) Assist in ongoing process improvement as part of the team, including supporting efforts to adopt new tools and platforms Continuously learn and develop your accounting skills and knowledge of our programs, in partnership with the Managing Director of Finance and Operations and Director of Finance Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; major in accounting, finance, or related field preferred 2-5 years of accounting or finance experience, with knowledge of basic accounting and accounting transactions Experience with Accounts Receivable a plus Proficiency with Excel Exceptional attention to detail - you thrive on being thorough, accurate, and precise in all you do Curiosity to learn new things and desire to deeply understand all aspects of your finance and accounting work - you constantly ask questions, take notes for your own reference, and don’t hesitate to confirm your understanding when needed Proactive, pragmatic, and resourceful problem solver – you enjoy trying to figure things out Ability to work efficiently, smartly, and within an entrepreneurial environment, with demonstrated ability to be a self-starter Strong communication skills with a service-oriented mentality Strong organizational skills A passion to join a mission-driven organization Benefits Salary range $70,000 - $90,000, depending on experience. Location This is a hybrid position requiring 1-2 days a week in-person in lower Manhattan.
