Direct Counsel is partnering with a highly respected, full-service business law firm seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its Accounting & Finance team in Los Angeles. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong collections experience who enjoys building client relationships, resolving payment issues, and contributing to the financial success of a growing organization.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a proactive approach to managing accounts receivable and collections activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor accounts receivable balances and maintain accurate aging reports.

• Identify and proactively follow up on overdue accounts to ensure timely collections.

• Communicate directly with clients via phone and email regarding outstanding invoices and payment status.

• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, billing issues, and account concerns.

• Process incoming payments and accurately apply payments to client accounts.

• Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers to ensure all transactions are properly recorded.

• Prepare monthly accounts receivable reports, collection summaries, and key performance metrics.

• Collaborate with attorneys, accounting personnel, and clients to facilitate timely payment resolution.

• Support overall cash flow objectives through effective collection strategies and account management.

QualificationsEducation

• Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, billing, or a related accounting/finance role.

• Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is a plus.

Skills & Attributes

• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable and collections processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

• Ability to analyze account information and resolve discrepancies efficiently.

• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

• Strong customer service and relationship management skills.

• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
