Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments that carefully consider the medical histories of patients facing terminal illnesses.

• Deliver crisis intervention services, providing immediate support during mental health emergencies.

• Document all patient encounters and treatment plans accurately, adhering to legal and ethical standards for confidentiality and privacy.

• Participate in collaborative care meetings, contributing insights from a mental health perspective to interdisciplinary discussions.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This position primarily serves patients within the hospice context, many of whom are managing co-occurring mental health and medical conditions, including anxiety, depression, and stress related to serious illness or end-of-life care. Our patient population is diverse, requiring counselors who can empathetically address a wide array of emotional responses while providing dignity and respect during one of life’s most challenging journeys.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Clinical Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A valid and current license to practice as an LPCC within the state of California.

• Demonstrated expertise in managing the mental health needs of individuals with complex medical concerns, particularly in a hospice environment.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to engage patients effectively and support their needs.
