2nd Grade Teacher, Elementary (2026-2027 School Year) Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Salary: $62,750 (Based on 2025-2026 Pay Scale) Report To: Principal Primary Purpose: The Elementary School Teacher is responsible for implementing the District’s instructional program and educational philosophy in the designated grade level in accordance with District goals, policies and procedures. The Teacher collaborates with the school community to prepare students to increase academic performance and meet state standards. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited College or University Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned At least one year of student teaching or approved internship Reading Certification for teachers applying to teach K‑3 students or currently enrolled Preferred: Five years of successful classroom experience Reading Certification for teachers applying to teach Pre‑k, Grade 4, and Grade 5 Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of subjects assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Major Responsibilities and Duties Teach in accordance with staff assignment and displays effective teaching practices. Develop, complete, and implement lesson plans with immediate and long‑range goals and appropriate materials and activities. Present subject matter clearly and interestingly. Plan and coordinate with team members, including the librarian, to enhance student learning. Administer the classroom to create an environment conducive to learning and organize procedures for effective classroom management. Provide flexibility for individual and group activities and practice positive discipline techniques that help students gain self‑control and responsibility. Maintain a positive, accepting attitude in working with students. Cooperate with school personnel in providing for student welfare, supervising behavior and safety of students in and between classes, and during school‑related activities on and off campus. Collaborate with counselors, administrators, parents, and other staff to place students in the most effective educational setting. Instruct students in school safety and emergency drill procedures and participate in special activities and programs for students and parents. Initiate communications with parents, inform them about programs, alert them to problems, and keep them informed about student progress. Cooperate with appropriate program director, department chair, and all other school personnel. Administer a record‑keeping system, maintain accurate records for student evaluation, progress, attendance, textbooks, materials, funds, parent contacts, conferences, disciplinary measures, and referrals. Meet required record‑keeping formats and timelines effectively. Exemplify professionalism in behavior and performance, cooperate with staff and administrators, share work willingly, and work with team leaders and principals to use strengths and improve areas of need. Promote understanding of District programs and policies and remain current in education through literature, workshops, conferences, professional organizations, and college courses. Adhere to the Texas Education Code of Ethics and support the District’s philosophy. Report to work daily per the schedule approved by the campus principal. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned. Working Conditions Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.
