Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry/IMC/Progressive Care – Wisconsin

Start Date: December 14, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts (0700-1930), every other weekend rotation, holiday coverage required. Four 12-hour shifts per week available. Must be available to work December 24th and 25th. Limited time off availability between December 22nd and January 5th.

• Opportunity to assist with specialized procedures including chest tube insertion in the dedicated procedure room
• Work with a dynamic team providing evidence-based nursing care for patients undergoing lobectomies, esophagectomies, decortications, and other thoracic procedures

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in telemetry, cardiac, PCU/IMC/stepdown specialty
• Transplant experience required; thoracic surgery experience preferred
• ICU or IMC and surgical post-operative experience required
• Must pass telemetry examination prior to start with strict criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score, and no errors on 3rd degree heart block questions
• Proficiency with Epic charting system required
• Experience with arterial line management and ventilated patient care highly preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
• Willingness to float to other units as needed

Clinical Skills

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated competency in: accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, management of dysrhythmias, PCA pumps, PICC line management, pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery care, titration of vasoactive and insulin drips, wound care and wound vac management, and utilization of rapid response and code teams.

Patient Population

You will care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including esophageal and lung diseases, patients recovering from lung volume reduction surgery, wedge resection surgery, cardiac surgery, and general hospitalist patients. The unit maintains a daily census of approximately 7 patients across 7 beds.
