Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Heart and Vascular Intermediate Care – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 30, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8 or 12-hour shifts, 1900-0730. Four 12-hour shifts or weekend block scheduling available. Every other weekend and some holidays required. 4:1 patient ratio. 36 hours orientation provided.

Highlights:

• Work in a 15-bed Heart and Vascular Intermediate Care Unit at a prestigious Level 1 Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility
• Care for vascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiology patients including post-surgical patients, aneurysm repairs, carotid endarterectomies, and cardiac surgery stepdown cases
• Manage complex interventions including chest tubes, feeding tubes, temporary external pacing wires, PCAs, insulin drips, vasoactive drips, heparin drips, and surgical drains
• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
• Participate in shared governance and unit-based councils driving quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice
• Patient-and-family focused care environment with daily interdisciplinary care team visits

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry specialty
• MS/Tele experience required; Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (80% passing score; 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms and 3rd-degree heart blocks)
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia management, arterial line management, central line care, IV insulin protocols, vasoactive drip titration, blood product administration, and wound care
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Candidates must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
• Floating to other units as needed
