District Office Accounting Specialist

Position District Office Accounting Specialist – Payroll Office, located at the District Office in Mission Valley. Monday‑Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm with remote work flexibility. Candidate may be transferred to any site at the Chancellor’s option. Responsibilities Process and validate U.S. payroll, including wage attachments, adjustments, year‑end processing, supplemental payrolls, and periodic reporting. Resolve federal and state payroll tax notices and amendments; manage multi‑state payroll taxation. Reconcile payroll revolving cash funds, liability accounts such as garnishments and retirement. Prepare payroll tax documents and make payroll tax payments. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred. Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll software (ADP, Workday, PeopleSoft). At least 2‑4 years of progressive experience with U.S. payroll; five or more years preferred. 2‑4 years of experience in tax and/or payroll tax, resolving federal and state payroll tax notices, and multi‑state payroll taxation experience a plus. Foreign degrees evaluated by a NACES or ACEI member institution, with evaluation submitted.
