Associate Faculty Pool: Paralegal Program (PT Faculty) Edmonds College invites applications for a part‑time Associate Faculty pool in the Paralegal Program. This pool is used to fill instructional needs on an as‑needed basis. Salary : A five‑credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94. Location : Lynnwood, Washington. About the Paralegal Program Edmonds College’s Paralegal Program is ABA‑approved. Students may obtain a Paralegal Associate of Technical Arts Degree, an Advanced Paralegal Certificate, or a Medical Paralegal Certificate (for registered nurses with a degree or diploma). The program offers the following options: Associate of Applied Science – Transfer (AAS‑T) in Paralegal Associate of Technical Arts (ATA) in Paralegal Advanced Paralegal Certificate (for students who already hold a four‑year degree) Courses that may require instructional support, depending on enrollment and quarterly scheduling needs, most commonly include Legal Research & Writing, Civil Procedure, Litigation Practice, Law Office Technology, Electronic Discovery, Family Law, and Contracts. Teaching Expectations Provide timely grading and substantive feedback Maintain regular and professional communication with students Adhere to established course schedules and instructional standards Comply with college policies, including FERPA and standards governing classroom conduct Align instruction with ABA expectations for rigor, practical skill development, and instructional quality Effectively use instructional technologies, including Canvas, Zoom, and related tools Experience working with diverse and non‑traditional student populations, including adult learners, is strongly valued. Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Licensed to practice law in Washington State Active member of the Washington State Bar Association in good standing with no history of discipline Minimum of two (2) years of legal practice experience, including experience working with or supervising paralegals Desired Qualifications Prior teaching experience, particularly in higher education Familiarity with the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) Demonstrated ability or willingness to teach in multiple modalities, including asynchronous online, synchronous online via Zoom (including evening courses), and dual delivery formats (simultaneously teaching in‑person and via Zoom) Compensation The work schedule is based on an eleven‑week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five‑credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours. Physical Work Environment Work is typically performed in a classroom, office, or online from home and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to communicate effectively is essential. Instructors are required to use a computer in the work environment. Conditions of Employment You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire. Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position. All new positions are contingent upon funding. At this time, Edmonds College does not sponsor H‑1B visas. This is a part‑time associate faculty pool. Teaching assignments are made on an as‑needed basis, depending on program and enrollment needs. Assignments may vary in frequency and are not guaranteed from quarter to quarter. Placement in the pool does not guarantee an assignment. Applicants must reside in Washington State at the time of appointment. Prior to teaching, selected candidates must complete Edmonds College's Online Teaching Essentials training (approximately 15 hours). The training is provided at no cost and is not compensated.
