DevOps Engineer

Salary: $93,000 - 133,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent directly related work experience
• At least 5 years of experience in systems, infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering, including 2 or more years working with public cloud and infrastructure automation
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, and Bash for automation and tooling
• Proficiency with Git, including branching strategies, pull request reviews, and repository and workflow management
• Experience authoring pipelines and automating releases with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes, including Helm, managed Kubernetes services such as AKS or GKE, Traefik ingress, and image build and registry workflows
• Hands-on experience operating production workloads in Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, including compute, networking, identity, storage, and cost management
• Production experience administering software load balancers, such as HAProxy Enterprise or an equivalent, including frontend and backend configuration, ACLs, health checks, and TLS termination
• Working knowledge of Layer 4 and Layer 7 load balancing, including session persistence, health checking, and routing
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server administration in cloud-hosted environments, including hardening and patching
• Experience with metrics, logs, and distributed tracing, including OpenTelemetry instrumentation and SLO-based alerting
• Working knowledge of cloud security practices, including least privilege, network segmentation, secrets management, hardening baselines, and vulnerability remediation

• Troubleshoot physical and virtual infrastructure performance issues and resolve assigned service tickets
• Perform and coordinate project work to implement new technology
• Design, build, configure, integrate, deploy, and test infrastructure components, operating systems, applications, and system management tools
• Maintain and monitor systems and platforms to meet availability, capacity, efficiency, scalability, and performance goals
• Develop and maintain security, redundancy, backup, and logging strategies
• Evaluate and update infrastructure maintenance and asset management practices
• Create scripts to improve system efficiency and reduce manual work
• Maintain system configuration documentation, runbooks, and administration procedures in the teams knowledge base
• Prepare solution designs and technical specifications, including cost estimates, resource needs, and delivery timelines
• Set project goals and milestones, drive delivery, and coordinate with project management and stakeholders
• Implement configuration automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and Azure Resource Manager
• Partner with architecture and security teams to establish automation standards and reusable infrastructure patterns
• Deploy and maintain monitoring and observability tools, and create dashboards and alerts aligned with service-level objectives
• Prioritize work, escalate issues when needed, and communicate with managers, colleagues, and clients
• Participate in vendor and technology assessments, proof-of-concept work, technical due diligence, and total-cost analysis
• Mentor and develop engineers through code reviews, pairing, runbook development, and knowledge sharing, while improving team processes
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform changes, using GitOps for deployments and drift detection
• Operate and upgrade managed Kubernetes platforms, including cluster lifecycle, autoscaling, ingress, and workload onboarding
• Remediate vulnerabilities and patch assigned platforms within defined SLAs, coordinating with security on risk acceptance and exceptions
• Design, configure, and maintain HAProxy Enterprise load-balancing services, including routing, health checks, and TLS termination
• Maintain load-balancer availability through redundancy, failover testing, and zero-downtime reloads and upgrades
• Onboard applications to load-balancing services and implement traffic management approaches such as weighted routing, blue/green and canary releases, and rate limiting
• Manage TLS certificates for load-balanced services, including issuance, automated renewal, and cipher and protocol standards
• Resolve escalated service issues, coach other engineers, deliver complex projects, and oversee assigned technology pillars
