Key Responsibilities

• Develop individualized treatment plans by thoroughly evaluating patients' functional levels using diagnostic tests related to muscle and joint capabilities.
• Implement and modify therapeutic exercises and interventions aimed at improving strength, mobility, and overall physical function, ensuring they align with the established Plan of Care.
• Conduct home assessments to recommend environmental modifications that promote safety and independence for patients transitioning out of rehabilitation.
• Oversee Physical Therapy Assistants to ensure accurate and effective implementation of treatment plans, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Administer various treatment modalities, including manual therapy, traction, and modalities involving physical agents such as heat and ice.
• Document patient progress through clinical records, including initial evaluations, care plans, and discharge summaries, to facilitate seamless communication with the interdisciplinary team.
• Engage actively in case conferences with other healthcare professionals to discuss patient progress and adapt treatment approaches as necessary.
• Educate patients and their families regarding therapeutic practices, ensuring understanding of exercises and use of assistive devices.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices in physical therapy, especially in orthopedic contexts.
• Facilitate access to community resources for patients as part of a holistic approach to care.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution.
• A valid physical therapy license in the State of Florida is essential.
• Two years of clinical experience in a related field, especially with orthopedic patients.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• A valid driver's license and automobile insurance are necessary for home assessments.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient care excellence and adherence to industry standards.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in a rehabilitation center with hands-on orthopedic therapy.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation processes.
• Background in supervising Physical Therapy Assistants and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
