Support students’ growth by stepping into a vital paraprofessional role in an autism support classroom at an elementary school. This contract opportunity runs from late October through the end of March, covering a maternity leave assignment. You’ll work onsite, Monday through Friday, contributing to a dedicated team focused on fostering a positive, inclusive environment for elementary-aged students with varying needs on the autism spectrum.
Qualifications:
- Current Delaware Paraeducator Permit is required (pending permits are not accepted unless you provide a DEEDS portal screenshot).
- Previous experience as a school paraprofessional, particularly in autism support settings, strongly preferred.
- Commitment to pay for your own fingerprinting (approximately $85) and ensure clearance before starting.
- Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills to work closely with the teaching team.
- Must be able to support students with varying needs and adapt to a dynamic classroom environment.
- If you hold an RBT certification, please note supervision is not provided within this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct classroom support under the supervision of certified teachers in a BRIDGES autism support setting.
- Assist students with their individual needs in academic and behavioral programs.
- Foster positive relationships and encourage student independence.
- Implement individualized support strategies as outlined by teaching staff.
- Help maintain a structured, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and other support personnel.
