Instructional Aide - Wilmington, DE

Job Description

Step into a vital support role for students as a paraprofessional in a BRIDGES autism support classroom this school year. This contract position covers a maternity leave from late October through March, located onsite at an elementary school near Wilmington, DE. The classroom serves students with diverse needs on the autism spectrum, and you’ll play a crucial part in helping them thrive both academically and socially.

Key Qualifications:

Must possess a current Delaware Paraeducator Permit (applications in process not accepted; permit may be pending with screenshot proof from the DEEDS portal).
Experience working with students on the autism spectrum is highly valued.
Familiarity with classroom routines, positive reinforcement strategies, and individualized supports.
Willingness to cover the cost for required CBC fingerprinting ($85).
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with educators and support staff.
Compassion, adaptability, and strong organizational skills are a must.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct classroom support to students with varying needs on the autism spectrum under teacher guidance.
Assist with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
Support small group and one-on-one instruction, ensuring each child receives the attention and assistance needed.
Monitor student progress and communicate updates to the instructional team.
Help foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district and DE DOE guidelines.
