Make a lasting difference in the lives of young learners as a contract preschool paraprofessional in the Wilmington, DE area. Support early childhood students in a specialized classroom setting, providing essential one-on-one and classroom assistance to children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs). Experience the reward of helping students overcome behavioral challenges and find success in a vibrant educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Delaware Paraeducator Permit (must be in hand at time of application; not pending)
- Experience supporting children with behavioral needs such as tantrums, aggression, and elopement
- Comfortable implementing and following individualized behavior and academic support plans
- Willingness to complete required $85 CBC fingerprinting
- Preschool or early childhood classroom experience preferred
Responsibilities:
- Assist preschool teachers and behavioral teams with daily routines and classroom management
- Support children in groups and individually, fostering positive behaviors and social skills
- Implement intervention plans to address challenging behaviors under teacher and specialist guidance
- Maintain a safe, nurturing environment while promoting inclusion and engagement
- Track student progress and behaviors according to school protocols
- Collaborate with educators, specialists, and families to ensure student success
Role Details:
- Full-time contract position, Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, through June 2027
- Positions available in two early childhood classrooms; one-on-one and group support needed
- Onsite position in a supportive early education setting
