Job Opportunity – Neuro ICU Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 36 hours per week with day/night rotation, every other weekend (rotation approximately every 4 weeks based on unit needs). Weekend shifts for night shift are defined as Friday and Saturday nights.

Highlights:

• Work in a specialized Neuro ICU caring for a complex patient population including stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurosurgical, and neuromuscular patients
• 2:1 patient ratio across all shifts providing optimal care delivery
• Epic electronic medical record system
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, rapid response teams, physical therapy, pharmacy, and lift teams
• Advanced neuromonitoring experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, and mechanically ventilated patients
• Travel assignment with local candidates accepted at the same rate

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Active Compact or Ohio RN license in hand at time of submission
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Nursing degree from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• 2 professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)

Clinical Skills:

• Ventilator management and care of mechanically ventilated patients
• ICP monitoring and external ventricular drain (EVD) management
• Arterial line and central line care/management
• Continuous IV sedation and titration of vasoactive/cardiac drips
• CVA/acute stroke management and post-neurosurgery care
• Blood product administration and emergency medications
• BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Patient Population:

Care for adult patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages, seizures, neuromuscular diseases such as myasthenia gravis and Guillain-Barre syndrome, meningitis, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and post-operative neurosurgery patients including craniotomies, spinal surgery, and cerebrovascular procedures. Bedside procedures include tracheostomy, PEG placement, and central/arterial line insertion.

• Strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start date with no exceptions
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing
• Candidates within driving distance of Ohio must travel to an in-state fingerprinting location promptly
• Remote candidates will receive mailed fingerprinting packets requiring urgent completion
• Former employees eligible after 6 months away from the facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
