Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough trauma-informed assessments to evaluate the individual trauma histories of patients, ensuring a tailored approach to each unique case.

• Develop and implement comprehensive individualized treatment plans aimed at supporting trauma recovery and enhancing resilience.

• Utilize evidence-based therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to aid in patient healing.

• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, providing a secure space for patients to share their experiences, develop coping strategies, and manage trauma responses.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals, to provide integrated and comprehensive care for each patient.

• Offer crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, employing compassionate and effective techniques to stabilize patients.

• Educate patients and their families about the trauma recovery process, available resources, and coping mechanisms to foster understanding and empowerment.

• Maintain thorough and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards to safeguard patient information.

• Engage in regular case consultations, team meetings, and continuous professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in trauma therapy.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

At A Step Ahead Counseling Center, our primary focus is on individuals who have experienced trauma in various forms. This includes but is not limited to adults coping with PTSD, children, and adolescents facing the impacts of complex trauma, as well as individuals with dissociative disorders. You will have the opportunity to directly impact their mental health outcomes by applying trauma-informed approaches and fostering a supportive therapeutic relationship.

Qualifications\n

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state of New York.
\n
• Strong foundation in trauma-informed therapeutic modalities and a working knowledge of trauma-related disorders.
\n
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
\n
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and related software applications.
\n
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team while maintaining professionalism and respect for all viewpoints.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in a mental health counseling role, preferably focused on trauma.

• Experience with trauma-focused therapies and interventions is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits\n
