Direct Counsel is representing a reputable law firm seeking a Mid-Level or Senior Labor & Employment Associate to join its New Jersey office.

About the Role

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 4–9 years of labor and employment experience who is looking to work on sophisticated employment litigation and counseling matters for clients across a wide range of industries. The role includes significant exposure to restrictive covenant litigation, employment counseling, and day-to-day client advisory work.

Responsibilities

• Handle employment litigation matters in state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York
• Draft and review:
  • Employment agreements
  • Employee handbooks
  • Restrictive covenant agreements
• Counsel employers on labor and employment issues and risk management
• Negotiate and litigate restrictive covenant disputes, including orders to show cause
• Conduct legal research, draft motions and briefs, and support all stages of litigation
• Work directly with clients on employment-related strategies and compliance matters

Qualifications

• 4–9 years of labor and employment experience
• Strong background in employment litigation and restrictive covenant matters
• Experience drafting employment agreements and handbooks
• Excellent academic credentials required
• Strong interpersonal, writing, analytical, and organizational skills
• High attention to detail and ability to manage sophisticated matters independently
• Must be admitted and in good standing with both the New Jersey and New York State Bars

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $215,000 – $260,000 annually
