Accounting Assistant

TITLE: Accounting Assistant Location: Parsippany NJ HOURS: 22 Hours Part Time (Monday through Friday: 8:30am – 4:30pm 3 days a week) This is an hourly non-exempt position. QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Accounting (Undergraduate Accounting Major- Minimum) Minimum of one year experience in bookkeeping. Knowledge of office machines, aptitude to work with computers and capacity to be trained to take on program’s funds accounting responsibilities. Basic knowledge of accounting. Keen to learn. PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Exceptional organizational skills and team-work attitude, friendly, courteous, professional. WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment and program locations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Talking, answering telephones, ability to operate computers and office machines. SUMMARY OF JOB This position handles daily and routine bookkeeping tasks on both manual and computerized systems; processing of program vouchers, program cash disbursements, program credit cards, maintains consumer and program accounting files, records and related journals and reports, processing of invoices, cash disbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, maintains accounting files, records and related journals and reports. This position also handles documents that are confidential to the operations of the agency. This person must maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
