Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 7 am - 7 pm Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1.5 years in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting. License: Must have an Indiana RN license or a compact license as of 7/1/20. Certifications: BLS through AHA required. Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1 year of Medical Surgical experience in a large hospital with more than 450 beds. Description: The unit cares for a diverse patient population with various diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. Management of GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases is a key component of care. The team also manages infections, including pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTIs, and C. diff. Care for patients with neurological issues like stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries is provided. Mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse, are also addressed. The patient population undergoes procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General nursing duties include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of electronic health records (EHR), IV pumps, wound vacs, and other medical equipment is essential. Skills required include IV therapy management and the management of drips for medications like heparin and insulin. Experience with Epic electronic record, pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, and telemetry is preferred. The staff will float to other medical units as needed, during which patient ratios will be 1:5-6. Weekend shifts are required, with a total of 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week period. A comprehensive orientation program includes general hospital orientation and nursing-specific training, along with Epic classes. Dress code is Caribbean Blue scrubs. Proper licensure and BLS certification are mandatory for consideration.
