Postdoctoral Associate: Use of Industrial Byproducts in Transportation Infrastructure Postdoctoral Associate in the broad area of innovative materials for transportation infrastructure with applications in civil (geotechnical/material) engineering, industrial scale economics, and transportation infrastructure performance. Key Responsibilities Lead research activities into the use and value of industrial byproducts in transportation infrastructure in support of a United States Department of Transportation funded initiative. Collaborate closely with several research groups at Rutgers and with national and international academic, governmental, and industrial partners. Design, perform, and execute research projects; disseminate findings through publications and presentations. Develop proposals and coordinate general project administration. Qualifications Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, Material Science, or a closely related field. Experience in one or more of the following areas: geomaterial performance assessment and modeling; life cycle assessment; infrastructure performance and design; supply chain management; systems thinking and modeling. Strong oral and written communication skills with high proficiency in technical writing and editing. Self‑motivated with the ability to think broadly and conceptually to formulate creative, sophisticated solutions to complex problems while prioritizing the workload and working independently with general supervision. Laboratory or experimental research experience. Experience with common programming languages (e.g., Python, Matlab); experience working with big data is highly desirable.
