Lead Data Architect Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Lead Data Architect to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Identify data model metadata and data sets that need to be common across products;
- Collaborate to refine data modeling standards, guidelines and governance processes;
- Collaborate with engineering teams to expand data models;
- Build strong long lasting positive relationships with key stakeholder groups;
- Coordinate and collaborate with Data Modeling review committee on weekly basis;
- Lead working sessions with product teams to translate requirements into data models that will stand the test of time;
- Deliver Enterprise-level data models (not for a single product, platform, or vertical);
- Define data model objects, metadata model and organize into a common taxonomy (subject areas, entity groups);
- Collaborate with Application Architects and the external CIM consortium to finalize high level models;
- Work with engineering teams to communicate expected business rules/behavior of data model;
- Create conceptual/logical data model diagrams independently and work with stakeholders to get it approved.
Requirements:
- Good understanding of canonical data modeling concepts;
- Prior experience in a software product development organization not required but a plus;
- Have a positive, passionate and inspirational attitude;
- Demonstrates ability to work independently for a complete functional unit;
- Strong conceptual and logical data modeling skills;
- Ability to develop extensible and flexible data models based on long term strategy, and articulate benefit of reuse;
- Ability to mentally reverse engineer existing data models into a conceptual, logical data model construct;
- Prior experience with Salesforce platform and technologies not required but a plus;
- Open minded to collaborate with various team and be able to both give and handle constructive feedback;
- Possesses strong knowledge of data modeling principles and best practices;
- Able to design integrated data model based on understanding of business, and use of abstracted concepts;
- Expected to be able use various data modeling tools and processes as required;
- Able to work in multiple projects/products simultaneously;
- 8+ years data modeling experience from multiple industries.
