Our company is looking for a General Superintendent to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Review of Capabilities, Accomplishments and Progress (ReCAP) progress for field trades people;
  • Maintain a progression/succession plan for all high-potential tradesmen in conjunction with the Operations Manager (OM);
  • Manage training for tradesmen;
  • Identify projects with Self-Perform opportunities and assist in the development of the Self-Perform proposal;
  • Implementation of LEAN practices;
  • Develop, document and communicate the work plan regarding changes made in the field;
  • Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings;
  • Obtain or verify that the subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes;
  • Supervise and develop the project team;
  • Establish credibility among Owners, trade contractors, unions etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment;
  • Coordinate plans and specifications with engineers, identifying and clarifying any discrepancies;
  • Create, review and update project schedule and three week look ahead scheduling;
  • Support Superintendent with overall management of construction activities and task assignments;
  • Lead contractor meetings, oversee daily reports and document using iBuild on a regular basis;
  • Conduct maintenance and planning of “work-arounds,” shutdowns and tie-ins.

Requirements:

  • Proven written and verbal communications abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite, SAP, SharePoint, etc;
  • A minimum of fifteen years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience;
  • A thorough understanding of AI project documents, plans, specifications, and special requirements or conditions of such job sites;
  • Experience supervising a project team;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Prolog;
  • OSHA 30 hour certified;
  • Experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control;
  • Ability to create an environment where “safety first” is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude;
  • Strong technical and communication skills;
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs;
  • Must possess the ability to participate in sales process, interviews and presentations;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Knowledge of labor relations;
  • Strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan;
  • Excellent organizational skills.
