The Resident Assistant assists the patients on daily basis with personal care and hygiene. Provides individualized care to the patients of a group home or residential living facility. Being a Resident Assistant administers and records medications given to residents. Transports patients within the facility or on supervised outings. In addition, Resident Assistant may administer medications under the supervision of a nurse or physician. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Being a Resident Assistant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.

Responsibilities:
- Records omission of services in the resident service plan and follows up as appropriate according to company policy;
- Records and follows up with changes in resident’s condition in a timely manner;
- Serve meals and assist in the clearing of tables under the direction of the Executive Chef;
- Complete all paperwork as required;
- Report all occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials and hazardous chemical to the Wellness Director;
- Recognize and respond to changes in residents’ behavior, cognitive, physical functioning, level of participation, and interaction with others;
- Assist with light housekeeping of resident rooms/apartments;
- Provide minimal to moderate assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and incontinence care;
- Provide emergency services, including CPR, as needed;
- Provide assistance with instrumental activities of daily living such as bed making laundry, and light housekeeping;
- Perform safety checks regularly;
- Provide memory cues as needed;
- Orient new residents and families to assisted living;
- Attendance at regular staff meetings;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- CPR Certified;
- CNA/HHA certified;
- This position requires the ability to stand and walk for periods of six hours or more;

- Must be able to manage time efficiently so as to achieve goals;
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language;
- Performs job in a safe manner, using proper body mechanics, infection control, etc;
- Knowledge of the physiology and psychology of the older adult;
- Responsible for proper care of all property, equipment, supplies and financial assets involved in the performance of the job;
- Adheres to all Human Resources policies, procedures, and code of conduct;
- Familiarity with technology and social media applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Performs other duties as required;

- Ability to pass all competency tests, including medication administration.
