# Job Opportunity – NICU Registered Nurse – Virginia Start Date: October 12, 2026
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week; 13-week or 26-week assignment available; 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period; must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays Highlights:

• Level III/IV NICU with 54-bed unit caring for extreme prematurity (22 weeks and above), complex cardiac anomalies, and a full range of neonatal conditions
• Patient ratio: 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU patients, 1:3 for stepdown
• 36 hours of comprehensive orientation with Epic charting system
• Interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Radiology
• Advanced technology including ECMO, high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and iNO therapy
• Flexible contract options: 13 or 26 weeks available

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of full-time Level III NICU experience required; Level IV highly preferred
• Virginia RN license (pending accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required at submission
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certification required (may be pending at submission)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Strong hands-on experience with high-frequency ventilators, conventional ventilators, iNO, tracheostomy care, NIPPV/NIMV, CPAP/BiPAP, IV drips, hemodynamic support, post-op care, whole body cooling, IV placements, and lab draws
• Competency in ABG interpretation, medication calculations, and critical neonatal assessments
• Experience with central line care, chest tube management, ostomy care, and assisting with procedures including intubation, lumbar puncture, and PICC placement
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Willingness to float to PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, and Labor & Delivery (newborn care) as needed
• BSN preferred
