Senior M&BD Manager - Energy

About the Role Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is hiring a Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager to lead the firm’s Energy sector. The senior manager acts as the global M&BD lead, collaborating with the global and local M&BD teams, the Sector Head, leadership, and Practice Area Leads to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and business development strategy. This hands‑on role drives client engagement, strengthens market positioning and supports long‑term growth of the sector. Leadership Collaborate with sector leadership, M&BD team, and others to design and execute a global strategy aligned with firm objectives. Act as the M&BD lead expert for the global Energy team. Manage a global team, providing guidance, training, and professional development. Pitching, Targeting & New Business Generation Lead pitch strategy for the Energy sector, aligning with the sales transformation plan and global pitch coordination. Develop and manage responses to RFPs, pitches, and proposals tailored to client needs. Profile Raising & Marketing Campaigns Lead efforts to enhance the firm’s profile through targeted campaigns, thought leadership, events, and sponsorships. Conceptualize and support client seminars, webinars and other marketing events, managing materials, logistics and follow‑up reporting. Oversee directory submissions for relevant rankings and publications. Foster relationships with industry associations and negotiate sponsorship agreements. Produce, manage and support seminars, receptions and other marketing‑oriented events and activities. Collaborate with the PR team to implement profile‑raising strategies for the sector and individual partners. Ensure effective internal reporting and communication of M&BD activities, supporting management reporting. Business & Client Development Support the team on the portfolio of clients within the sector, including monitoring and analyzing client financial performance. Conduct client feedback and act as client account manager for key clients. Wider M&BD Projects Contribute to broader M&BD projects and assignments as appropriate. Share best practices and processes across the global sector team. Qualifications and Skills Excellent strategic and commercial awareness with a proactive mindset. Demonstrated people‑management capabilities. Pragmatic, diplomatic and resourceful with the ability to adapt quickly. Proven ability to motivate and coach business team members. Excellent communication, writing skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational and prioritisation skills, able to complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. Experience working independently and within cross‑functional teams. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Education, Certifications, and/or Experience Eight (8) to ten (10)+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a legal or professional services industry. Three (3)+ years of people‑management experience preferred. Established knowledge and experience of the energy industry preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred; post‑graduate qualifications such as an MBA advantageous. Work Hours Core hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. (including one hour for lunch). Flexibility for additional hours is required. Salary Range Washington, D.C.: $191,300 to $239,000 per year. NewYork,NY: $205,000 to $255,000 per year. Additional compensation may include annual discretionary bonuses.
