Civil Engineer for AI Model Training

Contribute real-world civil engineering expertise to the development and evaluation of next-generation AI systems by designing authentic engineering tasks, sourcing and authoring technical documentation, and producing clear, code-compliant solutions and rubrics used to assess model performance. This is a remote contractor role that relies on your domain knowledge rather than prior AI experience.

• Design and author realistic civil engineering evaluation tasks that reflect professional complexity across structural design, transportation, water systems, and site development.
• Source, generate, and curate technical documents, including engineering drawings, geotechnical reports, specification sheets, cost estimates, and regulatory code references.
• Develop technical problems that require nuanced constraint reasoning and explicit code compliance, mimicking on-the-job scenarios.
• Determine the accurate engineering solution for each task, ensuring regulatory and geometric constraints are satisfied.
• Craft comprehensive, multi-item rubrics suitable for large language model based assessment, grading solutions for technical correctness and adherence to codes.
• Create and validate high-volume, realistic data files such as CSVs, PDFs, and spreadsheets representative of typical project documentation.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to iteratively refine task clarity, realism, and evaluative standards.

• Required skills: code compliance, civil engineering, technical documentation, constraint reasoning.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience contributing to civil engineering projects across diverse domains is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of licensure strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated mastery in preparing and managing technical documentation, including code compliance and design specifications.
• Experience sourcing and interpreting regulatory codes and integrating them into technical solutions.
• Proficiency generating or reviewing complex technical artifacts such as drawings, reports, and project data sets.
• Ability to reason about intricate constraints and produce solutions that reflect real-world engineering practice.
• Strong written communication skills for authoring clear, comprehensive evaluation materials.
