Work Environment

The Physician Assistant will work in a supportive and dynamic team-oriented atmosphere within our hospital in Brookhaven, NY. Operating in a fast-paced healthcare environment, the PA will have direct interactions with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff, ensuring coordinated care for each patient. The typical work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing for a well-structured work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough evaluations of patients suffering from chronic pain, identifying appropriate candidates for interventional pain management procedures.
• Develop and implement comprehensive management plans that may include prescribing chronic pain medications, while adhering to therapeutic goals.
• Provide clear explanations of treatment plans and engage in consultations with patients and their families to foster understanding and compliance.
• Collaborate closely with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary teams to assess, diagnose, and monitor patients' health conditions effectively.
• Perform comprehensive physical examinations and interpret clinical findings to diagnose both acute and chronic health issues.
• Utilize diagnostic tests, including laboratory and imaging results, to inform patient management decisions in accordance with established protocols.
• Formulate, initiate, and refine individualized patient management plans based on clinical guidelines and the direction provided by supervisory physicians.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role will primarily focus on patients diagnosed with chronic pain conditions, including, but not limited to, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and post-surgical pain syndromes. Our patient population encompasses individuals from various demographics, often including those from underserved communities who rely on our comprehensive and compassionate pain management services.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies is required.
• An active licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of New York is essential.
• A minimum of three years of experience in a clinical setting, particularly in pain management or related fields, is required.
• Possession of superior communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks effectively.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
