Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Directly furnish clinical services to a diverse caseload of students experiencing symptoms of significant mental illness or severe emotional disorders.
• Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings to set and achieve common goals for client care and to enhance service delivery.
• Conduct brief, evidence-based screenings to assess the mental health needs of students, and arrange for comprehensive evaluations when necessary.
• Develop and implement integrated care plans that are collaborative, ensuring students and their families are connected to relevant services and resources.
• Deliver brief, focused interventions that encompass prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies aimed at enhancing student wellbeing.
• Monitor ongoing client engagement and therapeutic progress through continued assessment and timely modifications to treatment strategies as needed.
• Facilitate crisis intervention as required, ensuring that students receive the necessary support during critical moments.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, and necessary reports, while adhering to strict timelines and ethical guidelines.
• Engage with students' families, teachers, and other stakeholders to create a supportive network that promotes a holistic approach to mental healthcare.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts within the agency, contributing insights and recommendations for enhancing service delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The LCSW will primarily work with children and adolescents facing various mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, behavior issues, and trauma. This role requires sensitivity to cultural diversity, valuing each student's unique background and experiences in the therapeutic process.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Virginia.
• Expert knowledge of clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment methodologies suitable for school-aged populations.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Competency in addressing age-specific developmental needs and integrating culturally responsive practices into care.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with children and families in a mental health or educational setting, preferably in schools.
• Experience with crisis intervention and management, particularly within youth populations.
• Familiarity with educational frameworks and special education services is a plus.
