Work Environment\n

This position is based remotely, allowing for flexibility while ensuring that our clients' needs are met effectively. The work setting includes collaboration with a diverse team of professional therapists, psychiatrists, and mental health workers who are all dedicated to promoting best practices in mental health care. Our practice operates primarily Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some flexibility in scheduling to accommodate patient requirements.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough and culturally-sensitive mental health assessments to tailor treatment plans that align with each patient's unique experiences.

• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, considering both cultural and personal contexts to maximize treatment effectiveness.

• Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions, addressing various mental health concerns while fostering resilience and overall well-being.

• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other health professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for all clients.

• Provide crisis intervention support and guidance during mental health emergencies.
\n
• Educate clients and their families on mental health conditions, available treatment options, and resources within the community.

• Maintain confidentiality by adhering to legal and ethical standards in all documentation and patient interactions.

• Engage actively in team meetings and case conferences to enhance teamwork and share best practices.

• Participate in cultural competency training and stay updated on the latest research and treatment methodologies in mental health.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role will primarily serve a richly diverse patient population, including individuals from ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, and immigrant backgrounds. Our counselor will be tasked with understanding and accommodating the unique mental health needs of these populations, fostering an environment of inclusivity, respect, and acceptance.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid license as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Virginia.

• A profound understanding of mental health disorders, culturally-responsive treatment approaches, and ethical therapeutic practices.

• Demonstrable experience in providing individual and group counseling using inclusive methodologies.

• Exceptional crisis intervention abilities with a composed and professional demeanor in challenging situations.

• Strong communication skills, fostering the ability to relate well with clients from diverse backgrounds.

• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant technologies.

• A commitment to upholding professional ethics, confidentiality, and the well-being of patients.

• Capability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team structure.

Preferred Experience\n

While a minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, candidates with extensive experience in trauma-informed care or specific work with marginalized communities are highly desirable. Familiarity with telehealth practices is a plus as our clinic adapts to the changing dynamics of mental health service delivery.

Compensation and Benefits\n
