TEMPORARY Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator - Loma Port of Entry

Non Lead Inspector Responsibilities Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Loma Port of Entry near Loma, Colorado. Work will be completed either independently or in teams to inspect boats entering the state with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels. Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by distributing printed material to visitors. The position will report directly to the inspection station. Boat inspection training will be provided. Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. Lead Inspector Responsibilities Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standards at Loma Port of Entry near Loma, Colorado. Site lead boat inspector will provide on‑the‑job training to inspection staff, create schedules, and ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours. Verify accurate timekeeping records for payroll and recommend hiring/firing to Specialist. Additional duties include ensuring staff follow standardized protocols by performing monthly quality‑control assessments, overseeing accurate data entry, maintaining inventory of supplies, performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting of the power washer/decontamination unit, and providing public outreach on aquatic invasive species. Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. Minimum Qualifications Reliable transportation and ability to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Reliable and timely attendance. Ability to self‑motivate and work independently. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment. Excellent customer service skills and/or experience working with the public.
