Human Resources Director

Compensation: $160,000–$180,000 base salary plus bonus Company Overview Our client is a growing, private equity-backed industrial services organization specializing in the installation, maintenance and repair of mission-critical infrastructure. The Opportunity Our client is seeking an HR Director / Head of Human Resources to serve as the company's senior-most HR leader and build the people function needed to support its next stage of growth. This is a highly visible role for a hands-on, tactical yet strategic HR generalist who thrives in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment. Partnering closely with senior leadership, this individual will help shape the company's people strategy while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day HR needs of the business. The HR Director will be responsible for building and professionalizing the HR function, establishing the infrastructure, processes and programs necessary to support continued growth, workforce expansion and future acquisitions. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting a field-based, technical workforce, ideally within industrial services, HVAC, mechanical services, construction, facilities services, electrical, specialty contracting or another technician-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Serve as the senior-most HR leader and trusted advisor to the company's leadership team. Build and professionalize the HR function, establishing scalable processes, policies, systems and best practices. Develop and execute a people strategy aligned with the company's growth plans and business objectives. Balance strategic HR leadership with hands‑on execution in a lean, entrepreneurial environment. Lead recruiting and workforce planning, with particular emphasis on technicians, field leadership and other skilled positions. Strengthen recruiting, hiring, onboarding and employee integration processes to support continued growth. Partner with leadership on organizational design, talent planning, succession planning and leadership development. Oversee compensation and benefits and help develop competitive, scalable programs as the organization grows. Provide hands‑on employee relations support and coaching to managers and employees. Establish meaningful HR metrics and workforce analytics to support better business decisions. Support M&A due diligence, employee integration and organizational change associated with future acquisitions. Develop performance management, training and employee development programs. Ensure HR policies and practices effectively support a geographically dispersed workforce while maintaining compliance with applicable employment regulations. Help preserve the entrepreneurial culture of the organization while introducing the structure and discipline necessary to support continued growth. Ideal Background The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience operating as a senior or highly autonomous HR leader within a smaller or middle‑market organization. Experience supporting a field‑based, hourly and technical workforce is highly preferred. Relevant industry backgrounds may include industrial services, HVAC, mechanical contracting, construction, facilities services, electrical contracting, specialty trades or other technician‑driven businesses. Additional experience should include several of the following: Building, upgrading or professionalizing an HR function Recruiting and retaining skilled trades, technicians and field employees Compensation and benefits Employee relations and manager coaching Talent and leadership development Multi‑location or geographically dispersed operations Organizational design and workforce planning M&A and employee integration Private equity‑backed or high‑growth environments This role requires an HR leader who is comfortable operating without a large corporate infrastructure. The right individual will be equally comfortable partnering with senior leadership on strategy and rolling up their sleeves to execute the day‑to‑day work required to build a strong, scalable HR function.
