Make a direct impact on the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher with a focus on tailored support for students with unique needs. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to work with elementary and pre-K students in dedicated, self-contained classrooms equipped with para support. Bring your expertise and passion to serve students from kindergarten through second grade or pre-kindergarten, and help foster an inclusive and positive learning environment.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
- Current SPED license (open to considering those with emergency or pending certifications)
- Background in special education (elementary or pre-K Autism, self-contained settings preferred)
- Willingness to work onsite only, fully engaging in school life
- Experience collaborating with paraeducators and support staff
- Openness to professionals enrolled in Teachers of America or ITeach programs
- Strong communication skills for building relationships with students, staff, and families
- Adaptability and commitment to the needs of diverse learners
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Providing direct instruction and classroom management within a structured, supportive environment
- Collaborating closely with paraeducators to deliver high-quality support
- Monitoring student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Maintaining effective communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Creating an encouraging classroom atmosphere centered on student growth
This role requires a commitment through the end of May 2027, offering a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week in a welcoming educational setting.
