Step into a meaningful role supporting students with diverse needs at a local elementary setting. Two contract Special Education Teacher positions are available, each focusing on a dedicated self-contained classroom with strong para support. One assignment centers on K-2nd grade students on the autism spectrum, while the second serves PreK learners in a supportive, structured environment. Both roles are onsite and offer opportunities for candidates with various certification statuses, making this a perfect placement for traveling educators or those working toward full certification.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education (SPED) License; applicants with emergency or pending certification, as well as current participants in Teachers of America and ITeach programs, are also encouraged to apply
- Experience working in self-contained classrooms preferred, particularly with early childhood or elementary-aged students
- Understanding of best practices for supporting students with autism or developmental delays
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and other team members
- Flexibility and enthusiasm for contributing to a positive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction aligned with IEP goals for your assigned caseload (either K-2 Autism or PreK)
- Develop lesson plans, adapt curriculum, and employ evidence-based strategies to engage and support all learners
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where students thrive
- Collaborate with paras, related service providers, and families to optimize student outcomes
- Monitor progress, document achievements, and participate in IEP meetings and team planning
