Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Valid South Carolina certification in Special Education (SPED required)
• Experience working with students with mild intellectual disabilities, preferably at the elementary level
• Strong understanding of adapting instruction and materials to meet a range of learning needs
• Familiarity with developing, implementing, and assessing IEPs
• Skilled in collaboration with classroom teachers, school staff, and families
• Exceptional organizational and communication abilities
• Able to foster an inclusive and motivating classroom environment

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction in core academic areas for students in a core replacement classroom
• Modify grade-level curriculum to ensure accessibility and encourage progress for all learners
• Implement and monitor accommodations, modifications, and supports as outlined in each student’s IEP
• Track, evaluate, and communicate student progress, maintaining thorough documentation
• Engage in IEP development and meetings to set goals and update strategies as needed
• Foster positive, productive relationships with families and collaborate with educational staff
• Consistently maintain an inclusive, structured, and encouraging classroom climate
