This contract opportunity is designed for professionals skilled in special education who thrive working directly with students and enjoy collaborating in a supportive environment. You'll work onsite with strong para-educator assistance, contributing to two self-contained classrooms serving K-2nd Autism Spectrum and Pre-K students.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Special Education certification (or eligibility, including emergency and pending credentials)
- Candidates in recognized teacher pathways, such as iTeach or Teachers of America, are welcome
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in Autism Spectrum or early childhood special education, is highly valued
- Strong classroom management skills and adaptability in self-contained settings
- Collaborative spirit to work effectively with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instructional support to students in self-contained Autism and Pre-K special education classes
- Foster a structured and nurturing classroom environment that accommodates varied learning needs and behavioral strategies
- Develop and implement IEPs, monitoring student progress and communicating goals with families and team members
- Collaborate with support staff and related service providers for effective intervention and student growth
- Participate in parent conferences, staff meetings, and professional development as required by the assignment
