Job Description Title: INTERVENTION PARAEDUCATOR Location: Sunset Elementary School Starting Date: August 24, 2026 Reports To: Instructor/Building Principal Department: Federal Programs Hours / Work Times: 6.5 hours per day (7:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m., inclusive of 30 minute unpaid lunch) Days per Year: 190 days (180 student days + 10 holidays) Position Duration: Permanent Paraeducator Employment Requirements Be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must meet one or more of the following:

• Pass the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS) with a score of 455 or higher.
• Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Earn 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university.
• Complete a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.

Minimum Qualifications AA degree or higher, or equivalent of two years of college, or a passing ETS ParaPro Assessment score of 461 or greater. Basic typing/keyboarding skills. Previous experience working with students in academic areas preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents. Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise students. Personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness, and confidentiality. Willingness to learn computer skills. Ability to operate office equipment listed below. Ability to perform under constant interruptions. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships as part of a team. Essential Functions Communicate effectively with students. Provide one-to-one and group instruction according to instructional goals. Establish and maintain a learning environment that accelerates academic and social‑emotional learning. Use student‑centered instruction principles to support academic and social outcomes. Utilize foundational academic and social‑emotional concepts to provide effective student support. Maintain accurate data on student progress and assist in administering and scoring formal and informal tests. Implement behavioral management strategies outlined by the instructor and intervention plan. Organize and prepare instructional materials. Assist in state/federal record‑keeping as necessary. Attend training sessions to maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the program. Other Responsibilities Perform additional duties as assigned.
