Work Environment

As a Bilingual Family Nurse Practitioner, you will work in an onsite school setting, interacting daily with children, families, and educators. Your typical work schedule will be from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with some evenings extending until 8:00 p.m. In addition, there will be opportunities to participate in community outreach events on weekends, further enriching your role within the community. The average workload includes approximately 40 hours per week, promoting a balanced work-life schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough and comprehensive health assessments for individuals and families, utilizing evidence-based methods to ensure accurate diagnoses.
• Manage acute and chronic medical conditions, providing preventive services and health promotion tailored to each patient’s unique circumstances.
• Develop and implement health education programs in collaboration with local organizations, enhancing community awareness and engagement.
• Advocate for patients' rights and provide culturally sensitive care that accommodates the diverse linguistic needs within the community.
• Coordinate patient referrals to specialists and follow-up care, ensuring a seamless continuum of healthcare services.
• Document patient interactions and treatment plans meticulously, complying with all regulatory standards and best practices in healthcare documentation.
• Engage in community outreach activities, including health fairs and screenings, to proactively address health disparities and promote wellness.
• Stay informed about current trends in community health and public health policies that impact our patient population.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses on a diverse patient population, including children and families primarily located in Missouri City. Many patients may come from vulnerable backgrounds, requiring advanced cultural awareness and advocacy for equitable health services. Your fluency in Spanish will enable you to communicate effectively and foster trust among patients who may feel underserved or marginalized in the healthcare system.

Qualifications

• A current certification as a Nurse Practitioner and an active nursing license in the state of Texas.
• Fluency in Spanish is essential to serve our diverse patient base effectively.
• A Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program is required.
• Minimum of three years of clinical experience, ideally within community health or public health settings.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with people from various cultural backgrounds.
• A strong commitment to social justice, health equity, and patient advocacy for marginalized communities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within school health services or familiar with school-based health programs is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits
