Facilities Coordinator

POSITION: Facilities Coordinator LOCATION: Kings Theatre, Brooklyn, NY HOURS: Full-Time including evenings and weekends per event schedule About The Position Kings Theatre, an ATG Entertainment venue, located in Flatbush, Brooklyn is seeking a detail-oriented team player with strong handyman and communication skills to join our growing Facilities department. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and capable of working independently. This position requires flexibility with working hours, including mornings, weekends, and evenings, due to the unique nature of the role. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine building inspections and maintenance tasks, including fire and life safety equipment, HVAC system checks, plumbing, and mechanical troubleshooting, to maintain safe and reliable building operations. Perform minor repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, painting, patching, carpentry, hardware replacement, basic electrical work, general troubleshooting within the scope of the position and liaise with external contractors for specialized repairs or larger-scale projects. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from front-of-house and back-of-house staff, particularly during performances and events, to resolve issues efficiently and minimize disruptions to venue operations. Perform pre-show and post-show facility inspections to identify and address potential hazards or maintenance needs. Supervise housekeeping staff during pre-show, showtime, and post-show operations, ensuring the venue maintains a high standard of cleanliness and readiness. Collaborate and communicate effectively with facilities and housekeeping staff, as well as venue management, to support event operations and long-term projects. Process vendor invoices accurately and promptly. Compile and submit nightly reports to the Facilities & Operations Director, documenting maintenance activities and any issues encountered. Support short-term and long-term preventative maintenance initiatives, repairs, and CAPEX projects as directed by the Facilities & Operations Director in coordination with venue management. Perform additional duties, as assigned, to support the overall operation and success of the venue. PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS Kings Theatre is a live performance venue in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. After a meticulous restoration and reopening in 2015, Kings Theatre has again become a hub for live entertainment, hosting events ranging from concerts and comedy to film screenings, fashion shows, and more. The Facilities Coordinator reports to the Facilities & Operations Director. This role involves collaboration across various building departments, including General Management, Box Office, Food & Beverage, Production, external vendors, and visiting clients. EXPERIENCE And SKILLS High school diploma or equivalent, with additional certifications or training preferred. 2+ years of experience in building operations, facilities management, trades, or similar positions. Proficiency with hardware tools and electrical equipment. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Strong communication skills and a proven aptitude for problem-solving. Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, including scheduling and staff management experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to support reporting, budgeting, and task tracking. Competencies & Qualifications Certificates of Fitness: S12 & S13 (Sprinkler & Standpipe) and S95 (Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems) are required. If not currently certified, these must be obtained upon hiring. Experience working with landmarked buildings is preferred.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels. Ability to work in varying conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather, with occasional responsibilities for snow removal. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed. Ability to frequently climb stairs as part of routine building inspections and emergency responses.
