12-Month School Secretary

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Post high school training in secretarial procedures preferred, but not required
  • Good typing and data entry skills
  • Operational knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Excellent communication and personnel skills

Reports To: Building principal or designee

Job Goals: Employee performs a variety of responsible and complex clerical procedures requiring independent judgment and action in accordance with school policies and practices.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Distributes all incoming mail.
  • Answers school phones. Takes messages for school principal, teachers and staff. Insures that individuals receive their messages in a timely fashion.
  • Makes announcements on building intercom as directed.
  • Maintains student enrollment information, attendance registers, and prepares information.
  • Maintains student Honor Roll.
  • Prepares and distributes emergency calling list.
  • Maintains petty cash account.
  • Types all correspondence from building principal, including teachers observations, discipline (bus and school) and newsletter.
  • Maintains records on student lunch information.
  • Maintains teacher attendance records.
  • Prepares end-of-year student awards.
  • Prepares student placement information.
  • Assists substitutes.
  • Performs other office related tasks as assigned by the building principal.

Terms of Employment: 12-Month Year

Evaluation: Annually by the Building Principal and Board of Education

Salary: $56,173-$68,109
