Business Development Manager – Commercial Construction
Location: Elgin, IL | Hybrid / Office-Based / Travel
Department: Business Development
Reports To: VP of Construction / President
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary:
LARA BSG is seeking for our Client an experienced Business Development Manager with a strong
background in commercial construction, sales, and relationship management.
This position is responsible for generating new business opportunities, developing strategic client
relationships, and driving revenue growth from initial prospecting through contract award. The ideal
candidate understands the commercial construction industry and has a proven ability to identify
opportunities, influence decision-makers, and convert relationships into profitable projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and pursue new commercial construction opportunities.
Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and prospective clients.
Generate qualified leads through proactive outreach and networking.
Manage the sales process from initial contact through contract award.
Collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams on proposals and project
opportunities.
Expand existing client relationships and generate repeat business.
Represent the company at industry events and networking functions.
Ensure a smooth transition of awarded projects from business development to operations.
Maintain accurate sales pipeline forecasts, activity, and performance metrics.
Provide regular business development updates to leadership.
Qualifications:
5–10 years of commercial construction experience.
Proven experience in business development or sales.
Strong understanding of the commercial construction process and project lifecycle.
Established industry network preferred.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented.
