Kessler Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and fully licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team focused on geriatric psychiatry. In this full-time, remote position, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the mental well-being of elderly patients through telehealth services. Work Environment

This position is designed to be fully remote, allowing for flexibility in delivering care through a telehealth model. You will utilize modern technology and telecommuting tools to conduct virtual sessions, manage patient records, and collaborate with colleagues, ensuring a comprehensive approach to mental health care for our clients. Work hours are primarily Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts as required by patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify and understand the unique challenges faced by older adults.
• Design and implement personalized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based interventions, accounting for cognitive changes, social factors, and physical health issues.
• Deliver individual and family therapy sessions, employing therapeutic techniques that cater specifically to geriatric psychiatric conditions.
• Collaborate with fellow geriatric psychiatrists and multidisciplinary team members to ensure holistic and integrated care for patients.
• Provide crisis intervention services, offering immediate support during mental health emergencies for elderly clients.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment modalities, and available local and community resources.
• Maintain detailed and compliant documentation in line with state and federal regulations, safeguarding patient confidentiality.
• Actively participate in regular team meetings and case discussions to stay aligned with best practices and ongoing developments in geriatric psychiatry.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and trends in geriatric mental health to continuously improve service delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on the elderly population, addressing multifaceted mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, dementia-related disorders, and adjustment challenges. Your work will directly impact the mental health of seniors, helping them navigate the complexities of aging and enhancing their emotional resilience.

Qualifications

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid state licensure as an LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT.
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting, with a focus on geriatric care preferred.
• Strong foundational knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and proven evidence-based treatment strategies.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong commitment to a patient-centered focus.
• Ability to build rapport and trust with elderly patients and their families, fostering a supportive therapeutic environment.
• Competence in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and related software.
• A collaborative spirit and willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience

• Experience delivering therapy specifically to elderly patients.
• Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques regarding geriatric populations.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 75,000 to 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
