Under the direction of the Supervisor I of the Data Management Unit (DMU), the Analyst II performs complex data extraction, analysis, and reporting functions and supports the Nutrition Services Division’s (NSD) internal and external data request email inbox.

Duties include developing ad hoc reports in the Child Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS) using Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server and Microsoft Access; performing trend analysis and data validation related to program participation and meal service; transforming large datasets into meaningful information; and developing charts and graphs using sound statistical methodologies.

The incumbent also performs data cleansing and data maintenance to ensure the accuracy and integrity of program data. The position supports federally required reporting and helps ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, data integrity standards, and program oversight requirements.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. Working Conditions

TELEWORK OPTION

HYBRID

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. Currently, the hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Excellent analytical, written, verbal, organizational, and data management skills.

• Knowledge of information technology project phases and advanced data research methods.

• Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, advanced Access, and advanced Excel.

• Ability to communicate effectively to individuals and groups; prepare and present technical reports, charts, and graphs; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.

• Demonstrated ability to act independently, exercise initiative, meet critical deadlines, work well under

time-sensitive conditions and demonstrate flexibility and tact.

• Familiarity with federal and state reporting requirements, audits, or compliance processes (e.g., Public Records Act).
